SUSTAINABILITY
SOURCE OF OUR MATERIALS
We work exclusively with leather from tanneries certified by the Leather Working Group (LWG), a true guarantee that our materials offer full traceability, independent audits, and a responsible origin. This seal certifies best practices in chemical management, water and energy consumption, and an origin primarily linked to the meat industry's by-products, giving the hide a second, meaningful life.
As an animal-derived material (primarily bovine), leather is environmentally friendly: it is organic, biodegradable, and repurposes a resource from the food sector. The tanning industry has evolved for years toward more sustainable processes, developing techniques that minimize environmental impact and adopting tanning methods that avoid harmful chemicals.
Furthermore, current environmental legislation requires strict recycling systems for water, chromium, and other compounds used during the process. All our leathers comply with the European REACH regulation (EC No. 1907/2006), protecting human health and the environment from chemical risks. This ensures our materials not only meet the most demanding standards but are part of the eco-friendly movement driving conscious leatherwork. Therefore, our products are handcrafted using 100% European leather, ensuring a production that respects both quality and the planet.
RESPONSIBILITY & CONSCIOUSNESS
In an increasingly globalized world, many traditional crafts that have endured for centuries are disappearing. Current market dynamics—fast, massive, and volume-oriented—have accelerated this loss. Global production has shifted toward countries with extremely low costs, often at the expense of unethical labor, unregulated hours, opaque processes, and materials of questionable origin.
At MUIER SPAIN, we firmly believe that some traditions deserve protection. That is why we champion national leatherwork, a craft with an extraordinary artisanal legacy. We advocate for conscious production: pieces made in small batches, respecting the time required for excellence, using techniques passed down through generations, and recognizing the true value of skilled labor. Our commitment is not just to create handbags, but to preserve the tradition that promotes responsible consumption.
